First case of community infection Omicron found in Phnom Penh

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Health has announced that a 23-year-old man living in Tuol Sangke, Russey Keo district, Phnom Penh, has been tested for the new Covid-19 variant Omicron, the first case in the community infection of the new virus.

In a press release on Saturday night, January 8, 2022, the Ministry of Health said that this man has a history of traveling from December 27, 2021 to January 5, 2022, to many places such as Phnom Penh, Kampong Thom, Siem Reap and visit some places in Tani, Touk Meas, Kampot, traveling with cousins from Australia to Phnom Penh on December 27, 2021 and at On January 5, 2022, he accompanied his cousin to a hospital, where he was later diagnosed with Covid-19's virus.

The man is currently being treated at the Olympic Medical Center in Phnom Penh.

The Ministry of Health calls on all citizens to continue to implement self-protection measures, especially the "3 dos and 3 don't" and vaccinate Covid-19 vaccine to jointly prevent the transmission of Covid-19 virus in the community.
